STRATEGIC CAPABILITIES
Official government disclosures, Ministry of Defence announcements, and field trials establishing sovereign quantum communications and cryogenic resilience.
Backed by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), the Indian Army established a dedicated Quantum Laboratory at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) in Mhow, MP. The facility anchors military research in quantum key distribution, tactical software-defined radio cryptography, and transition to post-quantum cryptography.
A joint scientific team from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and IIT Delhi successfully demonstrated live, continuous Quantum Key Distribution over commercial-grade optical fiber exceeding 100 kilometres between Prayagraj and Vindhyachal, achieving sifted key rates up to 10 KHz.
The Indian Army's Southern Command Signals and Corps of Signals provided operational access to fiber infrastructure in the Rajasthan sector to validate India's first 500 km multi-node QKD network. Developed by QNu Labs under NQM, the trial utilized the 'Quantum Suraksha Kavach' (QSK) rack and trusted nodes for end-to-end key distribution.
DRDO signed an agreement with Alwar-based startup Zero mK India under the TDF scheme (mentored by the Solid State Physics Laboratory, SSPL) to develop sovereign 20 millikelvin closed-loop helium dilution refrigerators, eliminating foreign dependency for superconducting quantum processors.
C-DOT engineered indigenous QKD systems, Quantum-Secure VoIP terminals, and optical line encryption hardware compliant with TEC GR 91000:2022, securing strategic government and defense administrative communication links.
TECH DIPLOMACY
Bilateral and multilateral coordination frameworks securing supply chain resilience, talent exchange, and pre-competitive standards alignment.
January 2023
Established a dedicated Quantum Coordination Mechanism to facilitate bilateral academic exchanges, joint research in quantum computing algorithms, and resilient supply chain partnerships.
Quad Strategic Framework
Multilateral collaboration advancing pre-competitive quantum standards, benchmarking methodologies, and secure telecommunication interoperability across the Indo-Pacific region.
