Insider Brief

  • Intel agreed to acquire quantum computing software provider Classiq Technologies, with legal advice from Hogan Lovells Cadwalader.
  • The proposed acquisition would combine Classiq ’s software synthesis platform with Intel ’s spin-qubit manufacturing and existing software to create a full-stack quantum computing platform.
  • The deal would position Intel to add quantum processing units to its portfolio of CPUs, GPUs and application-specific integrated circuits.

PRESS RELEASE — Global law firm Hogan Lovells Cadwalader advised Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) as it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Classiq Technologies Ltd, a leading provider of quantum computing software.

The combination of Classiq ’s synthesis platform with Intel ’s spin-qubit manufacturing and existing software would create a user-friendly full-stack quantum computing platform, enabling the promising technology to mature into a mainstream computing business.

The combination would enable Intel to become a full-stack quantum solutions provider, while also allowing the company to add Quantum Processing Units (QPUs) to its already diverse compute platform portfolio spanning Central Processing Units (CPUs), Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) and application-specific integrated circuit (ASICs).
