QuEra Computing has officially expanded its operational reach by opening a new facility in Maryland’s Discovery District. This move integrates the company into the 'Capital of Quantum' initiative, a regional effort to consolidate quantum research, infrastructure, and commercial development within the state.
Central to this expansion is a collaborative agreement with the University of Maryland's QLab. This partnership is designed to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application by providing researchers and developers with cloud-based access to QuEra's hardware.
Users will be able to interact with the Aquila neutral-atom quantum computer, which boasts a 256-qubit architecture. By offering cloud access, QuEra aims to democratize access to high-performance quantum hardware, allowing a broader range of users to experiment with neutral-atom modalities without the need for on-site infrastructure.
This development marks a significant step in the maturation of the quantum ecosystem. By aligning with established academic institutions and regional initiatives, QuEra is positioning itself to foster a collaborative environment that accelerates the transition from theoretical quantum advantage to practical, scalable utility.
