Addressing persistent limitations in preparing high-purity quantum states, this work delivers the first comprehensive theory modelling both amplitude and phase fluctuations from laser fields during nanoparticle manipulation. Existing models failed to fully account for these effects, now understood as “the main limitation” hindering progress, while this research extends analysis into previously unexplored strong optomechanical coupling regimes. Analytical expressions quantifying heating rates provide experimentalists with tools to optimise setups and unlock further exploration of fundamental physics.
