SEALSQ Corp has officially entered the commercial phase of Miraex’s quantum photonics technology, following the company's full acquisition of the Swiss firm in June 2026. This strategic move marks a pivotal transition from laboratory research to industrial application, positioning SEALSQ to offer a comprehensive 'Quantum Sovereign Vertical Stack.'
At the technical core of this development is Miraex’s proprietary Thin Film Lithium Tantalate Photonic Integrated Circuit (TFLT PIC) platform. This technology addresses a critical bottleneck in quantum infrastructure: the conversion of quantum information between microwave frequencies, which are standard for superconducting quantum processors, and optical frequencies required for long-distance transmission. By solving this interconnect challenge, the technology facilitates the scaling of quantum systems beyond isolated units.
The commercial strategy targets four primary sectors: Distributed Quantum Computing (DQC), where multiple processors are networked to increase capacity; Quantum Networking for the development of a global quantum internet; Quantum Sensing for high-precision navigation and infrastructure monitoring; and the Quantum Orbital Space Cloud (QOSC), which focuses on radiation-tolerant technologies for satellite-based communications.
Financed through SEALSQ’s $200 million Quantum Fund, the acquisition of Miraex—headquartered at the EPFL Innovation Park in Switzerland—is intended to provide an end-to-end sovereign platform. By integrating secure semiconductors, post-quantum cryptography, and photonic interconnects, SEALSQ aims to provide a unified infrastructure for governments, defense agencies, and telecommunications providers.
This deployment signifies a major milestone in the maturation of the quantum ecosystem. By owning the interconnect layer, SEALSQ seeks to provide a scalable, integrated solution that moves the industry toward a functional, interconnected quantum economy.
