In a significant move to bolster the regional quantum ecosystem, Yenepoya University has entered into a formal partnership with Edutecnicia, operating through REYRA AI, to establish the Quantum AI Catalyst Lab. Located at the Yenepoya School of Engineering & Technology (YSET) in Mangaluru, the facility is designed to serve as a hub for high-level research and industrial application development.
The laboratory will focus on three primary pillars: Quantum Computing, Quantum AI, and Quantum-inspired AI. A key technical objective of the collaboration is the development of FPGA-based hardware accelerators, which are critical for optimizing the execution of complex algorithms on specialized hardware. By bridging the gap between theoretical quantum mechanics and practical engineering, the lab aims to provide tangible infrastructure for next-generation computing.
Beyond hardware development, the initiative places a heavy emphasis on practical applications within the healthcare sector. The lab intends to develop medical AI models that leverage quantum principles to enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning. This focus on medical AI highlights the practical utility of quantum technologies in solving high-impact, real-world problems.
To ensure a skilled workforce can support these advancements, YSET will integrate educational components into the lab's operations. The institution plans to offer specialized certification courses in Quantum Machine Learning (QML) and Quantum AI. This dual approach of research and education is intended to cultivate a pipeline of skilled professionals capable of navigating the evolving quantum landscape.
This partnership underscores a growing trend of academic-industrial collaboration to democratize access to quantum resources. By combining Yenepoya’s academic infrastructure with Edutecnicia’s technical expertise, the Catalyst Lab aims to accelerate the transition of quantum technologies from experimental theory to functional industrial tools.
