This policy describes what The Quantum Network collects on this website, why it is used, and the choices available to you. It covers the public site, accounts, and the forms on this site.

Information we collect

• Account data from Firebase Authentication: email, name, profile photo, and sign-in provider.
• Profile details you add: bio, organization, country, research interests, and favourite topics.
• Bookmarks, reading history, comments, and research you save while signed in.
• Newsletter details: the email address you submit, and whether that subscription is confirmed and active.
• Community applications: name, email, country, organization, role, area of interest, and the message you write.
• Organization applications: the organization and representative details you submit, and files you upload for review.
• Community analytics such as page views and reading time, only when that feature is enabled.
• A session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a record of your analytics choice when that choice is offered.

Processors

These services process information when the related feature is in use:

• Firebase and Google, for authentication.
• Cloudflare, for hosting and delivery.
• Pollinations, for images generated during news ingest.
• The email provider configured for newsletter messages.
• Google Gemini, when AI enrichment is enabled.
• Cloudflare Turnstile, when a form asks you to complete a human check.

Why we use it

We use this information to run accounts, show saved articles and reading history, publish and moderate content, review community and organization applications, send newsletters you requested, measure how the site is used, and keep the service secure.

How long we keep it

• Account and profile data stay while the account exists.
• Bookmarks and reading history stay until you remove them or the account is erased.
• A newsletter address stays until you unsubscribe or the related account data is erased.
• Operational logs are kept only as long as needed to run and protect the site.
• After information is erased, a copy may remain in backups until those backups are replaced.

Your choices

From the account page you can download a file of your account data, deactivate the account, or record a deletion request. Deactivating hides the public profile and blocks sign-in until an administrator clears it. The account, research, and files stay in place.

A deletion request is stored for the team to handle manually. Submitting the request does not delete the account, uploaded files, or the Firebase login. You can also send that request to [email protected].

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Analytics run only when that feature is enabled.
