A system heated to a higher temperature can sometimes cool faster than one starting colder, an effect now demonstrated with surprising precision in a nanoscale material. Bare Gibbs initialisation of a graphene nanotorus qubit yielded broad regions of strong anomalous relaxation, approaching an integrated Mpemba parameter of unity. However, employing driven steady-state preparation almost completely suppressed this counterintuitive behaviour, revealing new avenues for manipulating energy dissipation within qubits.
