D-Wave bought its way into gate-model computing in January 2026, paying a stated 550 million dollars for the Yale spin-out Quantum Circuits and its error-detecting dual-rail qubit. Its roadmap needs a tenfold error suppression at each step in code distance, against the 2.14 Google measured on Willow, and D-Wave says that figure comes from its own simulations.
