Until now, estimating properties of complex quantum systems demanded ever more copies as accuracy improved, but diminishing returns always loomed. New calculations demonstrate how estimation errors scale, revealing leading contributions fall precisely to the fundamental quantum Cramér, Rao limit, with subsequent terms shrinking much faster than previously understood. This unlocks efficient methods for characterising states without full reconstruction, relaxing constraints on estimations like the Bures χ²-divergence.
