arXiv:2610.30257v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Numerically simulating quantum many-body systems is one of the central challenges in modern physics, as the exponential growth of the Hilbert space with system size renders large-scale exact solutions intractable. Over the past decade, generative artificial neural networks have emerged as powerful wave function ans\"atze that have powered advances in finding ground state representations, reconstructing quantum states from data, and modeling dynamics in quantum many-body systems. While recurrent neural networks (RNNs) are computationally efficient, the recurrent nature can limit their capacity to capture long-range correlations. Transformer models with their underlying self-attention mechanism excel at capturing these long-range correlations, but incur increased computational requirements, restricting applications to small physical systems. In this work, we address these limitations by exploring the multi-layer perceptron (MLP) mixer model as a wave function ansatz. By mixing information globally and locally through the system via a computationally lightweight mixing strategy, this architecture promises to combine the ability to capture long-range correlations with low computational costs. We benchmark the model on finding ground state representations of two-dimensional quantum many-body systems in various phases of matter and investigate the behavior of representational accuracy and computational efficiency for different physical system sizes. By comparing its performance to RNNs and transformer models with single-site and patched input definitions, we demonstrate that the MLP mixer architecture performs competitively with state-of-the-art network models. We further show that a hierarchical combination of this model with the transformer model outperforms other state-of-the-art architectures for large-scale quantum systems, opening new avenues for investigating quantum phases of matter.

Optimal Disorder Strength for Approximate Unitary $k$-Designs in Spin Chains

Quantum simulators with disordered spin Hamiltonians offer a natural route to Haar-like unitary ensembles, but face a competition. Disorder enhances randomness, yet strong disorder suppresses dynamics and localizes the system in the computational basis. This suggests an optimal intermediate disorder strength for approximating a unitary $k$-design, which has so far been identified mainly empirically. Here, we develop a perturbative theory for the...

Numerical simulation of D-Wave's quantum advantage experiment with time-dependent variational Monte Carlo

Programmable quantum annealers can realize real-time dynamics of frustrated transverse-field Ising models on large, nontrivial graphs. Recent work by King et al. argued that the classical simulation of such experiments would require exponential computational resources for classical methods such as tensor networks and neural quantum states. Here, we numerically simulate the D-Wave spin-glass annealing protocol with time-dependent variational Mont...

Practical advantage beyond the quadratic speedup limit with fully-quantum walks

We introduce a new class of fully-quantum Metropolis walks in which both the proposal and acceptance steps are intrinsically quantum. Unlike standard quantum walks obtained by quantizing classically efficient Markov chains, our algorithm employs Hamiltonian simulation as a quantum-native proposal mechanism, enlarging the class of quantum walks beyond classical counterparts. We target the problem of sampling from the low-temperature Gibbs distrib...

Concurrent Entanglement Purification Scheduling in Dynamic Quantum Networks

Quantum networks must deliver end-to-end entanglement whose fidelity meets application requirements, which typically requires entanglement purification along multi-hop paths. Existing scheduling approaches either purify at the link level or optimize end-to-end fidelity for a static set of requests, and do not capture concurrent requests competing for network resources over time. This paper studies concurrent entanglement purification scheduling...
