Previous hyperbolic colour codes offered only logarithmic protection against computational errors. Now, constructions utilising arithmetic hyperbolic manifolds demonstrate polynomial scaling of both code distance and the number of logical qubits, a critical step towards dependable quantum processing in dimensions \(Dgeq 4\). This advance establishes a new family of error-correcting codes for exploring advanced fault tolerance.
