Entanglement measures and LOCC conversion criteria from Schur-Weyl duality

arXiv:2610.37785v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The characterization of possible transformations between quantum states and the quantification of entanglement are central for understanding quantum resources. Explicit results are, however, scarce since they require complicated optimizations over transformation protocols or state decompositions. arXiv:2610.37785v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: The characterization of possible transformations between quantum states and the quantification of entanglement are central for understanding quantum resources. Explicit results are, however, scarce since they require complicated optimizations over transformation protocols or state decompositions. We introduce a method to optimize functions of the entanglement spectrum of bipartite states over mixed-state decompositions with arbitrary accuracy. Our results are based on a convergent semidefinite programming hierarchy of optimizations over entanglement spectra using a natural polynomial basis and Schur-Weyl duality. Our approach can also be used to determine non-polynomial measures, such as the entanglement of formation, and to characterize the dimensionality of entanglement. Moreover, extracting the decomposition allows us to formulate criteria to determine state transformations under local operations and classical communication (LOCC). In particular, we provide a hierarchy of certificates of LOCC non-convertibility from pure to mixed states in any dimension and a heuristic approach for LOCC convertibility.

Fundamental limits on photonic state preparation from phase-space majorization

Preparing complex quantum states of light for quantum information processing tasks often proceeds by converting from simpler states via experimentally accessible operations. We provide fundamental bounds on such probabilistic conversions, both exact and approximate. To do so, we establish a theory of weak, fully relative majorization that compares the disorder of phase-space functions. Our framework is versatile and can be tailored to different...

Magic in Grover's Algorithm and the Role of Oracle Synthesis

Grover's algorithm is a textbook example of quantum advantage, providing a quadratic query speedup over classical methods for unstructured search. In this Letter, we characterize the non-stabilizerness, or magic, developed throughout Grover's protocol, quantifying quantum complexity with respect to the efficiently simulable stabilizer states. First, we compute the compilation-independent magic at the end of each Grover iteration, deriving an ana...

Defining 2-group symmetries on lattices and extracting their anomalies

Ordinary $0$-form symmetries $G$ can mix with $1$-form symmetries $\Pi_2$ to form a $2$-group $\mathcal{G}$. We give a concrete lattice definition for a class of finite $2$-group symmetries in terms of local relations among symmetry operators. These relations identify the Postnikov class $[\rho]\in H^3(BG,\Pi_2)$ that characterizes the mixing. We develop a method to extract anomalies of these symmetries in one spatial dimension by restricting sy...

Direct tests of conformal symmetry with Rydberg atoms: assessment and proposals

We propose a direct test of conformal symmetry using Rydberg-atom arrays. By arranging the atoms on a circle and measuring equal-time two-point correlation functions, the characteristic functional form predicted by conformal field theory can be tested directly. We estimate the number of experimental snapshots required to resolve this behavior with sufficient statistical precision. We further optimize the time-dependent ramp profile of the Rabi f...
